New Age Venue Info |
|
|
Many musicians have been kind enough to share information on New Age venues with me. Here is a collection of the information they have shared. I hope it's helpful! *************** You might want to check out the
International New Age Trade Shows. There are two annually. One in
Colorado in June, the other is in Florida in January. The show is run by
the folks at the following webpage. .
I have attended, exhibited, and performed at the one in Colorado. **************** Actually,
I've played a number of concerts at UU series. I did two tours this past year
out to the west coast--January and October. Both had UU dates on the schedule.
Good stuff, good audiences. The UU website is a great resource. **************** Maybe
you should do services for Unitarian-Universalist churches; many of them also
host folk concerts *********** Try
www.uua.org. It's the web site for Unitarian Universalist Churches and it
has a church locator. Many UU churches have concert series and I know
songwriters who often play at services – David Roth and Chuck Pyle, among 'em.
I've never felt comfortable contacting them about playing during services
because it really is not my spiritual path - even in their liberality, they are
still too demonstrably Christian. However, I think that CD sales have
always been good for the people who participate in services. ************* Here
is info on a wonderful venue in Sedona, AZ. The name of the booking contact is
BenDameean (starmotion@globalchangemusic.org ). An acoustic trio I book (E.L.K.
aka. http://www.elainelambertandkarl.com ) performed there last Sept. and had a
wonderful experience. ***************** there is a new age community for radio support, advertising, etc. There really isn't much for performance b/c new age typically doesn't perform well. There are conferences, but I've never attended them. Start by looking up New Age Review and New Age Voice magazines on-line. Ask the editors for info. **************** For
some idea of what to do in those genres, you might want to look at David Roth (davidrothmusic.com)...He
is quite successful in those areas. Great, uplifting, inspirational but
not religious or exclusionary. *********** Our
church would entertain the idea of hosting musicians in our service. While the
pay is typically $100 you may only have to play one or two songs (and also get
up early Sunday, which can sometimes be a struggle). ****************** Here
is my original post to the folk listservs, which generated all these responses: Subject:
How do I find the "New Age" venues? I
am seeking some niche marketing guidance. Many of my songs contain a theme of
non-exclusive, all-embracing spirituality, and have been well-received by
listeners with a New Age / metaphysical / meditative / non-mainstream mindset. I
know that there are a lot of people out there who think this way, and am looking
for any Folk Alliance-type conferences, touring circuits and/or other
performance opportunities for this type of music. I would appreciate any
replies, to the list or privately to BJB@BJBmusic.com, on how to market my live
singer/songwriter performances and CDs to this niche. Thanks
in advance! I am... Wishing
you a wonderful EVERYTHING, Benjammin |
